We use the “Power Control” widget to simultaneously control GPS, Bluetooth, Wireless and backlight brightness

On the Android platform there is a special widget “Power Control”, which can be launched with one click on the screen. To do this, on one of the desktops, select the item "Widget" "Power Management" ("Widget" "Power Control") and the widget will open. It will immediately show you which of the wireless modules are currently activated. In this case, the active icons will be highlighted in bright white light. By clicking on any of them, you can disable or enable any wireless mode, and clicking on the brightness icon will give you quick access to adjusting the display backlight.

It is worth recognizing that this is the fastest and easiest way to control the battery saving mode.

Disable network client application synchronization

The built-in email application in Android (not based on Gmail, but using Push technology) can also consume significant power, as it tries to constantly check for new messages. Especially this can have negative consequences if you use several accounts - each of them can synchronize data within 15 minutes. It is best if you synchronize mailboxes in manual mode, and if you leave automatic mode, it is better to set large time intervals between updates.

Set up the Email application for your account, for which go to the menu "Account Settings" "Frequency of polling mail" ("Account settings" "Email check frequency"). Set the value of the interval for mail updates - no more than once per hour or even disable this feature.

Remember - you can always do this manually.

You need to do the same with other accounts. For example, a Twitter account, which, due to the nature of the technology, is forced to be updated more often. Using the Seesmic mobile application, this can be configured in its main menu - “Settings” “Background Updates” in the “Update Interval” item.

Facebook client applications are updated automatically in the background, and you can also adjust the frequency of updates. In the main application menu, go to the settings section and change the time intervals in the "Refresh interval" section.

Turn off the GPS navigation function

One of the largest consumers of energy in smartphones is also a GPS receiver. When you use it to navigate, the battery discharge rate can increase significantly. Many applications can use the included function of GPS navigation as they wish.

You can disable this feature or configure it. So, if you switch its work from satellite positioning to receiving information from cells, you will lose accuracy, but reduce battery consumption. You can configure these modes through the settings item “Security & GPS Settings” (“Location & security settings”). To do this, set the appropriate icons opposite the “Use wireless networks” or “Use GPS satellites” items.
