Why do I need a radiator grill in a car?

Having a fan (or even two) on the back of the oven indicates that your oven has a forced convection function. In combination with upper or lower heating (or both), convection provides excellent cooking results, especially baking.

The fact is that actively moving air flows are mixed, and there are no unreached areas in the oven and a uniform temperature is maintained: more warmed air tends to rise, but it is forcibly mixed with less warmed. What does this give in practice? Firstly, you can cook at any level - both upper and lower, and not be afraid that something will burn or not bake. Secondly, professional chefs use convection so that the smells of different dishes do not mix: you can cook meat and pies at the same time, and everything will be fine.

Convection is one of the most useful features.

Low temperature modes

Today, even in simple ovens, there are 40, 50, 60, 80 degrees modes, and this is a great opportunity to use this device not only for baking and baking. In the 40 degree mode, you can cook dishes that require fermentation (standing dough, cooking kvass, yoghurts and yogurt and other drinks that “roam”). In the mode of 50-60 degrees, vegetables, fruits, herbs, mushrooms are perfectly dried, especially with the use of convection. You can use the same modes for cooking homemade pastille and defrosting foods. Well, 80 degrees is the right temperature for longing. When once again you hear multicooker advertisements, cooked “like in a Russian stove”, take a look at your oven. She, most likely, also can.

40 degrees is rare, but 50 is almost always

Many manufacturers claim that hydrolysis is used in their ovens - steam cleaning, but any user can successfully perform this procedure - pour water into a deep baking sheet or pan, bring to a boil and leave in the oven for half an hour on a small fire (time depends on the volume liquids, you need to ensure that everything does not evaporate). Steam does not replace cleaning; it makes it easier. After cleaning with steam, no aggressive cleaning agents can be used, in addition, steam also penetrates where it is difficult to reach with a rag or sponge.

Cooking on the wire

If you think that the lattice is what the baking sheets and forms put on, then you are mistaken. Vegetables (potatoes, beets, eggplant, peppers, zucchini, tomatoes) are baked quickly and simply on the wire rack, and an incredibly tasty vegetable kebab is made from the last four. Meat kebabs are also easy to cook on a wire rack: put rampurs or wooden skewers with skewered meat on a wire rack and turn over from time to time. And the baking sheet must be set down so that it serves as a tray for the fat and juice of vegetables.

After cooking, the grill can be washed in the dishwasher

Catalytic Coated Ovens

If you have a porous catalytic coating in your oven that absorbs impurities and fat like a sponge, it constantly cleans itself: at 200 ° C, under the influence of oxygen, the fat that has absorbed into the catalytic enamel is split into soot and water, and then Each cycle simply wipe the enamel with a dry cloth. Quite often, users, choosing a catalytic coated oven, do not delve into its possibilities and subtleties of care (for example, contaminants are not “removed” immediately, but gradually, you can also wash with detergent, and it is forbidden to use abrasive sponges and powders). The service life of such a coating is up to five years, then it loses its properties. So: the walls of catalytic coated ovens are, as a rule, removable and double-sided: they can be removed, turned over and used on their own - coated on the other side. Only the bottom cannot be removed: catalytic enamel is simply not applied to it, since it does not like sugar and milk, and it just gets on the lower part of the oven in “emergency” situations.

Removable door and removable inner glass

So that the door can be washed as best as possible and from all sides, it is removed. As a rule, this is done very simply, and when installing back the main thing is to get into the grooves. Nevertheless, it may not be possible to wash the whole door, but it may be necessary to wash the inner glass quite often. So, in almost all modern stoves and ovens, the inner glass is taken out with a “flick of the wrist”. And then - it can be soaked, washed with a special composition where it is convenient or entrusted to the dishwasher - it is hardened, it is not contraindicated for it.

The purpose of the grille

To protect the radiator from possible damage, a radiator grill is provided in the vehicle structure. In addition to the protective function, this grill is also a decorative element that adorns the front of the car. Another function of the radiator grill is to redirect the air flow to better cool the radiator.

Now the grille is an integral element of the front of the car. Cars with a rear power plant are mainly sports cars, the radiator grille is essentially not needed, the air flows of these cars are guided by air ducts, so they don’t have a grille in the front of the car, or there’s a small one and that’s just to decorate the car .

The grille often serves as a decoration for cars

Previously, especially on SUVs, the radiator grill was a slot in the front of the body, as such there was no grille. An example of such a grille may be the UAZ-469. The front part of it consists of a metal sheet in which wide cuts are made to supply air to the radiator. Since the slots are quite large, to protect the radiator from possible damage, they are covered with a fine mesh.

Now on passenger cars, the radiator grill is already a separate element of the front of the car, which can be easily removed. In addition, auto manufacturers are trying to make grilles that fit well into the exterior of the car and give it a special look.

Dimensions, shape, manufacturing material of the radiator grill

The dimension, shape and material of the manufacture of the lattice for each automobile manufacturer is different. Many use plastic, some use metal to create a lattice, and combined lattices are also found - from plastic and metal. The dimensions, in many respects, depend on the dimensions of the front part and the layout of all its elements. Often, manufacturers of a radiator grill or some of its parts are coated with chrome, masking the plastic material of the grill to metal.

For example, on the Ford Focus of the latest generation, the radiator grill is very small and performs almost only a decorative function, because the radiator uses volumetric air intakes mounted on the front bumper to cool the radiator.

But on the latest generation Toyota Land Cruiser 200 SUV, the radiator grill is very voluminous and performs both a protective, decorative, and aerodynamic function, since it does not have air intakes on the bumper.

Many manufacturers, in pursuit of an aesthetic appearance of the front part, forget about the direct purpose of the radiator grill - the protection of the radiator. They make a lattice with very large cells or with a significant distance between the strips of the lattice. Such a grid can not always "catch" a flying stone. Many motorists solve this problem either by replacing the grill, or by installing a fine grid from the inside of the factory grill.

It should be noted that in addition to the improved appearance and protection of the radiator, tuning radiator grilles can also carry other useful functions. For example, there are grilles in which additional lights are integrated. These lights are connected to the wiring going to the headlights.

Some craftsmen create exclusive radiator grilles using the factory grill as a basis. Usually the external contour of the factory grate remains, which facilitates its subsequent installation into place, while the inner part is cut out. A grille with a special pattern is mounted in place of the cut out part; additional lights can also be installed. Next, the finished grill is painted or coated with chrome, and then it is already installed in place.

The possibility of dismantling the radiator grill makes it possible to replace it if damaged. But many people use this opportunity to give the car an individuality, because now there are so many types of grilles that look very different from the factory ones.

You can also change the appearance of the front of the car not only by replacing the grille, but also by purchasing overlays on it. Moreover, the lining on the grille can be not only decorative, but also perform a certain function. Now almost all cars sell winter grills. Such an overlay completely covers the grille, blocking the air flow through it. In winter, this contributes to faster heating of the power plant and compliance with the temperature regime.

Replacing and restoring the radiator grille

Replacing the grille for any reason, whether installing a tuning grille or simply replacing a damaged one, is not that difficult. It is more difficult to choose a new grill, because it can be made poorly or covered with poor paint. When selecting, you need to select the grill strictly according to the model of the car, inspect it for damage.

For example, take the VAZ-2108 car, since it is often subjected to tuning, including the replacement of the radiator grill. The radiator grill is fastened at the G8 using self-tapping screws. It is enough to unscrew them and the grill will be removed from its seat. A new grille is put in place of the dismantled one and fixed with self-tapping screws.

On other cars, in addition to self-tapping screws, special clamps can also be used. They are disconnected, then the screws are twisted and the grate is removed.

If the car is rare and the grille is difficult to find on it, and the native one is damaged, its integrity can be restored by gluing or soldering cracks with subsequent processing of the restored surface with sandpaper and painting.
